East Valley did not advance out of Friday’s rounds, finishing 0-2 in the longest and most agonizing way possible.
The Red Devils, coming in with the No. 3 seed out of the CWAC-Great Northern regional, opened a 2-0 lead on sixth-ranked North Kitsap in the first round. But the Vikings fought back to even the match, took a quick 5-1 lead in the fifth game and won 25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 16-25, 15-13.
Three hours later, East Valley’s young crew returned to the court for a loser-out match against 10th-ranked Archbishop Murphy and again charged out to a 2-0 lead, including a 14-point win in the second game.
But the Wildcats rallied for a 21-25, 11-25, 25-18, 25-18, 16-14 victory and eliminated East Valley.
